What Is the Super Speeder Law?
Florida’s super speeder law—found in § 318.14(13) and cross‑referenced with § 316.1926—targets drivers who exceed the speed limit by 50 mph or more or who drive over 100 mph.
The law aims to deter extreme speeding and imposes strict penalties beyond a standard speeding ticket. According to § 318.14(13), a first violation requires a $1,000 fine.
A second violation results in a $2,500 fine and a one‑year license revocation, and a third violation is a third‑degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison, a $5,000 fine and a 10‑year license revocation.
New updates enacted in 2025 increased penalties, including mandatory court appearances and potential jail time for drivers who exceed 100 mph or the speed limit by 50 mph.
